If being thoroughly entertained with great music while learning important stuff¯ sounds good to you, then you have got to get this DVD, An Evening with Kasim Sulton, Live in Atlanta. This DVD was put together by devoted Kasim fans and we must say, they all did an amazing job!
The camera angles really capture the feeling of an intimate setting and the audio is crisp, coherent, and clear. You get the feeling of actually being in the room. Regrettably, we were unable to attend this particular show; however, we did make it to the Cleveland gig a few weeks later at the Beachland Ballroom. The show was incredible and we had a great time. Cleveland loves Kasim!
Anyway, back to the DVD review.... Kasim's voice is wonderful as is Doug Kennedy and Jesse Gress' guitar playing. Every single song sounds awesome and here are some of our favorites:

Are You Happy Now (Yes, I am..... and you know why.)
Yellow Cab (Makes us want to go to NYC sooo bad.)
Cliche (A beautiful old Todd song that Kas had "nothing to do with")
There Goes my Inspiration
Libertine
Minutes Slipping Past (although it is a tiny bit depressing.)
Sacrifice
Watching the World Go By (yes, everyone on MySpace loves it.)
One World (which was dedicated to Shelle, a sweet, longtime fan who sadly passed away just a week before the show.)

In between some of the songs, Kas chats with the audience, tells little stories, (love his NY accent, btw) and even gives a few little impressions of Todd's verbal grumblings. He said he is feeling a bit "sillier than usual"¯ and continues to become "frisky" as the show goes on. He is talented, charming, adorable, and such a nice guy!

So, that is the entertainment part, here is some really "important stuff" we have learned from this DVD:

What Kasim purchased in 1976 after he got his first big $$$ advance for playing in Utopia.
What Kasim is most proud of after 32 years in the music business.
Bea Arthur marries Sting, then she would be_______?
Why he calls Doug Kennedy Phyllis (still don't really know the answer to that one?)
Doug Kennedy's secret laundry detergent ingredient.
Who Kasim would like to invite to his "fantasy dinner party"¯, both dead and alive. You will really be surprised who is on his "guest list"¯.

You have to buy the DVD to learn the answers! And yes, love is the answer too.
We laughed happy tears, we cried. Four enthusiastic thumbs up, we loved this DVD! We really look forward to Kasim's solo tour in 2009 and hopefully a few Todd Rundgren ARENA gigs in the Ohio area, and we just have one more question for Kasim. Do you need a couple roadies; working on this Ohio farm is gettin old! Jan and Nan
